Firm Stand Against Land Grabbing
Lahore: 29 November 2025, On Saturday, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has declared that the long-standing grip of land grabbers in the province is ending, as she directed officials to launch a strict and immediate crackdown under the newly approved property law.
She made the remarks while chairing a detailed review meeting on the implementation of the Possession of Property Ordinance, a law designed to fast-track justice for people deprived (taken away)of their land through force, fraud, or manipulation.
She said the administration has resolved 1005 cases of illegal occupation in just two days, calling it an unprecedented step toward restoring citizens’ land rights.
Women’s Cases Get Top Priority
Maryam Nawaz said she’s monitoring every update through a live dashboard, adding that no delay or negligence will be tolerated.
She stressed that women’s property cases must be resolved first and that once a decision is issued, the rightful owner should receive possession without waiting for additional approvals or recommendations.
“A decision means nothing unless the owner is standing on their land,” she said firmly.
Clear Policy for Restoring Rights
The chief minister reiterated that every Marla, Kanal, and Acre in Punjab must return to its lawful owner. She told officers that if anyone’s property has been occupied illegally, the case should be submitted directly to the Deputy Commissioner, who will be required to issue a decision within a few days.
A Turning Point in Land Governance
Her message throughout the meeting was direct: the government is dismantling the networks that allowed land usurpation (illegal land grabbing) to grow for years.
With digital dashboards, rapid case handling, and district-level monitoring, the administration aims to restore confidence in a system where citizens too often felt powerless.
Maryam Nawaz said the new law is not just another policy reform; it is a commitment to ensure that people’s land rights are protected and enforced without fear, influence, or delay.
